Please share a memory of Yolanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schenectady - Yolanda J. DiNolo (Yolie), 102, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on October 27, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family. Yolie was born in Pennsylvania, where her father had become a coal miner soon after arriving in America from Italy. Her family moved to Stoughton, Massachusetts shortly after she was born. She married Joseph DiNolo on New Year's Eve in 1949. Yolie and Joe worked hard and built a loving home for their daughter. They spent 46 years together until his death in 1995. Yolie lived a humble and simple life centered around family and faith in God. She spent many hours with her four sisters and their families playing cards, shopping, going to the Cape, cooking and baking. Yolie was well known for her cream puffs, lemon meringue pie and second-to-none chicken cacciatore. Praying the rosary was always a daily part of her life. Yolie moved to Schenectady, New York in 2004 to be near her daughter, Terri, who watched over her so lovingly in her later years. As a result of her genuine and pleasant nature, she made friends quickly at her new home in the Kingsway Community. Yolie was known throughout Kingsway for her contagious smile and laughter which endeared her to all. During the past few years, nothing made her smile more than when her great granddaughters visited their "G.G." Yolie is survived by her beloved daughter, Teresa (Terri) Little, son-in-law Mark Little, cherished grandchildren Joseph Little, Julie Ziegler and Julie's husband Kristian Ziegler, adored great granddaughters, Sydney and Whitney, and special nephews, Paul DiNolo and Daniel DiNolo. In addition to her husband Joseph, she is predeceased by her parents, Erminia and Guistino Alimandi, four sisters, Clara Aseltine, Helen Conley, Genevieve Capazzoli and Ann Davidaitis. Yolie's family extends a special thank you to the staff at Kingsway Community who lovingly cared for her, especially her beloved Jackie Carden. Funeral service will be Friday morning, November 2nd at 11:00 at St. Kateri Tekekwitha Church (Union Street) Schenectady, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton, MA. Donations in Yolie's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
