Schenectady - Elizabeth 'Betty' Mayville Gifford, 86, formerly of Schenectady and Cossayuna Lake, died Monday, November 12, 2018, at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. Betty was born in Tupper Lake, the daughter of David and Ramona Mayville. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Frank Gifford. She devoted her life to her family and the three children's activities, particularly, scouting. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Church and was an active member of the church and was a member of the Rosary Society. She loved summers spent at Cossayuna Lake and winters in St. Petersburg, FL. Betty enjoyed playing BINGO and singing around the campfire. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Gifford, he died in 2003. She is survived by three children, Paul (Anne) Gifford of Glenville, Frank (Lisa) Gifford of Schenectady and Lynn (Jeff) Jackson of Rotterdam; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral service Friday morning, 9:00 at St. Luke's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Thursday afternoon 4:00 to 6:00 in the evening. Interment, Cossayuna Lake Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contribution may be made to the Cossayuna Lake Improvement Association (CLIA), P.O. Box 81, Cossayuna, NY12823. Members of the St. Luke's Rosary Society are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 and meet at St. Luke's Church, Friday morning at 8:45.
