Obituary of Helen Micheli

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Andreanna Micheli, 87, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 31, 2020. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, William Micheli. Born in Schenectady, Helen was the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Cichy) Czaban. Helen was a devoted mother to her children: Pamela Micheli, Michael Micheli, Lisa Madden (Robert), Eric Micheli (Teresa), and Marc Micheli (Michelle). She delighted in her thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Helen was also the dear sister of the late Joseph Czaban, James Czaban, the late Thomas Czaban, and John Czaban. A graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Helen attended SUNY Oneonta to study early childhood education, and completed various writing and language courses at Union College and Schenectady County Community College. She retired in 1995 from her position as membership coordinator from what is now known as the Schenectady Museum of Innovation & Science. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Helen was an avid reader and writer. After her children had grown, Helen had time to develop her talents as a photographer, and she received numerous awards in recognition of her work. She especially enjoyed traveling to photography events with her “Zoomer” friends. Helen will be remembered for the ways she could find fun in everyday life. She celebrated the adventures of motherhood and grandmotherhood with love and laughter, was an expert bargain shopper, and proudly reigned as the Scrabble champion of the family. Helen was a communicant of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady. She sang in the church choir for ten years. Helen was a lifelong supporter of the pro-life movement. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private. The family hopes to plan a memorial Mass in early summer 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Helen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
