Obituary of Norma J Kafer

Kafer, Norma Schenectady – Norma Kafer, 86, passed away Thursday October 14, 2021. Norma was born and raised in Denver, Colorado the daughter of the late Adolph and Adelia Quitana. When she was 18 she met her first husband Robert Townsend and the two of them then moved to the Schenectady area. They had 6 children and She worked for many years at the Glendale Nursing Home. In 1973 she was remarried to Joseph Kafer Sr. She worked for New York State Dept. of Tax and Finance for many years as a stenographer. Norma loved to crochet and work with ceramics and in the 1970’s owned and road a Honda motorcycle. She is predeceased by her first husband Robert Townsend, also predeceased by her 2nd Joseph Kafer Sr. and predeceased by her sons Robert Townsend, Jr., Robert Townsend and Wayne Townsend. Norma was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Norma is survived by her children: Debbie (Gus) Papanikos, Joy (Ron) Smith, Eric Townsend and Joseph Kafer II, Norma’s funeral service will be Monday 1:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York.
