Obituary of Patti Thrane

Niskayuna - Patti Sue (Gaida) Thrane, born in Niskayuna April 23, 1959, passed away Saturday, June 9th, after a short bout with cancer. A graduate of Niskayuna High School, class of 1977. She was a one-time member of Niskayuna Fire Company Dist. #2. She was employed by the Niskayuna Price Chopper where she was a front end supervisor and the centerpiece of the store, a friend, a mentor, and mom to her younger Price Chopper family. She was an avid NASCAR fan, all who knew her knew only to talk during a caution or a pit. She loved to vacation in such places as St. Kitts, Cancun, Glouster, the oceanfront beaches of Florida and New Jersey, the slot machines of Vegas and the NHMS. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Sandra (Herrgesell) Gaida and her best friend and aunt, Sue Herrgesell. She is survived by her two sons, Jeremy and Nick Thrane, with whom she still lived with; her ex-husband, Ricky Thrane, to whom she remained close; her sister, Diana Gaida, who will miss her desperately; her nieces, Erin Houlihan and Ashley Williams; her nephews, Cory Thrane and Thomas Williams; several aunts and uncles; and her many cousins including her best cousin, David Dickson; her extra sisters, Deb Severino, Darlene O'Donnell, Dawn Friello, and Debbie Houlihan; her ex-mother-in-law, Joyce Thrane; and her son Nick's girlfriend, Courtney Maloy. Funeral service, Thursday eve, 7 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 Thursday eve at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
